AV Home Automation (“we,” “us”) is a small, locally owned company based in Washington, Utah, serving Washington County and Iron County. We respect your privacy. This page explains, in plain terms, what we collect through avhomeautomation.com, how we use it, and the choices you have.
The short version
We never sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. We use what you give us to answer your questions and do your project well, and we share it only with the service providers and partners who help us do that.
What we collect
What you tell us. When you use our contact form, we collect your first and last name, email address, message, and, if you choose to provide it, your mobile phone number and whether you agreed to receive text messages. If you comment on photos in our gallery, we collect the name, email address, and website you enter. If you chat with us, call, text, or email, we receive whatever you choose to share, such as your mobile number, address, or project details.
What’s collected automatically. Like most websites, ours records basic visit information: your browser and device type, approximate location based on IP address, pages viewed, how you arrived, and similar usage details. This is gathered through cookies and similar tools described below.
How we use it
- To reply to you and schedule consultations
- To prepare estimates, proposals, and plan your project
- To provide service and support after installation
- To send text messages you have agreed to receive, such as appointment reminders and account notifications (see Text messages below)
- To understand how our website is used and improve it
- To keep the site secure and filter out spam
Who we share it with
We share information only as needed to run our business and do your job:
- Website hosting and forms: our site runs on WordPress.com (Automattic), which hosts the site, receives contact form submissions, and filters spam (Akismet).
- Chat: our website chat is provided by CallCorp. Chat conversations are handled through their system so we can respond to you.
- Analytics: we use Google Analytics and WordPress.com/Jetpack Stats to see how visitors use the site.
- Reviews and maps: our reviews display is provided by Trustindex, which shows public Google reviews, and our map is provided by Mapbox. These services may receive basic technical information when they load.
- Installation partners: if your project includes cameras or security, we work with a trusted security partner and share the details they need to complete that work.
- Legal reasons: if required by law, or to protect our rights, our customers, or the public.
We require our service providers to protect your information, and we choose providers whose terms limit how they use it. Some providers, such as Google, process data under their own privacy policies.
Mobile information will not be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Text messages
If you agree to receive text messages from AV Home Automation, we use your mobile number only to send informational messages such as appointment reminders and account notifications. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out at any time. See the SMS/Text Messaging section of our Terms & Conditions for details.
Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small files your browser stores. We and our providers use them to keep the site working, measure visits, and remember chat sessions. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some features (like chat) may not. To opt out of Google Analytics, you can use Google’s browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
How long we keep it
We keep contact and project information for as long as we’re working together and for a reasonable time afterward for service, warranty, and record-keeping (including tax records). Website usage data is kept by our analytics providers under their standard retention settings. When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous within a reasonable time.
How we protect it
We use reasonable safeguards and reputable providers to protect your information. No website or email system is perfectly secure, so please don’t send sensitive details such as passwords, alarm codes, or payment card numbers through our form or chat.
Children
Our website is meant for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Your choices
You can ask us to see, correct, or delete the personal information we have about you, or to stop contacting you, including by email or text. Just email us, or reply STOP to any AV Home Automation text. We’ll respond within a reasonable time, though we may keep some records we’re required to keep by law. We are a small business and are not subject to the Utah Consumer Privacy Act, but we honor the requests above voluntarily.

Our site may link to other websites, such as manufacturers and review sites. We aren’t responsible for their privacy practices.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above shows when it last changed.
